#Cookingwithkids- Two easy chat recipes that everyone will love to eat!

Welcome back to #Cookingwithkids series.
Excited to share recipes that my girls had learnt last week.
I am sure that “Chat recipes” are favorite of most of the people. And no can say no to pani puri, bhel puri, ragda petties and papdi chat.
My elder one loved all kinds of spicy foods and chat recipes. So, this week we had selected “chat recipes” as a theme of week, and they had learnt different varieties of chat in this week.
In this post, I am sharing two easy chat recipes that they like most. Hoping you will like it.
Papdi chat

This one is one of the easy, tasty and amazing chat recipe. Even kids can make it by themselves (after learning).
Ingredients

- Papdi (you can use readymade or can make it at home)-10-15
- Boiled potatoes-2 or as needed
- Chickpea ( kabuli Chana) or black chick pea (desi Chana)- 1 cup or as needed
- Sweet curd
- Green (coriander or mint) chutney
- Sweet chutney (tamarind chutney)
- Spices like chat masala, red chili powder, roasted cumin powder- as per your taste
- Finely chopped onion (and other veggies of your choice like tomato, cucumber)- 1 cup or as needed
- Thin sev and coriander leaves for garnishing
Method
- First take papdi (we had used readymade once) and spread it as a layer on a plate.
- Next, take boiled potatoes and black chickpea and make a layer with these two things.
- Then take sweet curd and spread it. Also, use green chutney and sweet chutney and spread it one by one.
- Add finely chopped onions and other veggies of your choice.
- Sprinkle spices (red chili powder, roasted cumin powder and chat masala) as per your taste
- Next, crush 2-3 papdi and mixed it with other ingredients.
- Again, add curd and both chutines.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and thin sev.
- Your tasty papdi chat is ready to enjoy.
Now, let’s start with the second recipe, the name of second recipe is “Chinese bhel”.
Chinese bhel

Ingredients

- Fried noodles 1 pack (you can use either readymade fried noodles or can make it at home too)
- Finey chopped vegetables (capsicum, cabbage and carrot) – 2 cup
- Spring onion and red onion 1 cup or as needed
- Soya sauce 1 teaspoon
- Tomato sauce 1-2 teaspoon
- Vinegar 1 teaspoon
- Schezwan chutney 3-4 teaspoon
Method
First prepare fried noodles
- We had made fries noodles at home. For making it, take 2 part of noodles (we had used Hakka noodles, you can use any of your choice) and boil it for 8-10 minutes. Add salt and 1 teaspoon oil while boiling it. Keep one important thing is mind while boiling noodles, do not overcook it, otherwise you would not be able to make crispy fried noodles
- After boiling, all the noodles to get cool down (at least for 15-20 minutes)
- Heat the oil and fried the boiled noodles. It usually takes 2-3 minutes for frying the noodles. When it turns brown, take out it from heat and allow it to get cool down.
- When it gets cool down, crushed it lightly to make smaller pieces.
- Alternately, you can use ready-made fried noodles too.
Now, take a bowl and start assembling all ingredients. There are two ways to make Chinese bhel. Here I am sharing both ways, you can use any method as per your preference.
Chinese bhel (hot method)
- First heat the oil, and add crushed garlic and green chili and cook it for few minutes. When it changes color, add finely chopped veggies (capsicum, cabbage, and carrot).
- Stir fry the veggies for few minutes and add spices (black paper powder, salt)
- Take out veggies in bowl after few minutes.
- Now start assembling. Take a bowl and first add prepared fried noodles.
- Next add stir fried veggies.
- Add finely chopped spring onion and red onion.
- Now, add all sauces one by one (soya sauce, tomato sauce)
- Add vinegar
- Add 3-4 teaspoon schewan chutney
- Mixed everything well.
- Your tasty Chinese bhel is ready to enjoy.
Chinese bhel (cool method)
- This method is much simpler and you just need to assemble all the ingredients one by one.
- First take a bowl, and add fried noodles.
- Next add finely chopped veggies, spring onion and red onion.
- Now mixed tomato sauce, soya sauce and vinegar one by one.
- Add schewan chutney and mixed it.
- Now, mixed all the ingredients properly but lightly.
- Your tasty Chinese bhel is ready to enjoy.
My girls had great time while making both recipes.

I love the cold version of Chinese bhel. Until last year we would devour it on the streets at one particular street vendor. But now that it seems highly unlikely that we’ll go out and eat, I am surely going to try to make it at home using your recipe.
