Extracurricular activities online: How to groom your kid for the right etiquette?

You may be looking to enroll your little one into a fun kids activity online. At the same time, it is not enough to simply get them enrolled into any online hobby classes or programs at Yellow Class. You should properly groom your child to be ready with the right etiquette and protocols before joining any online class for that matter!
How to groom your kids for right etiquettes (for extracurricular activities online)?

Focus on creating a suitable learning space for your little one

The first thing that you should focus on is creating a suitable learning space for your little one. It is vital that you have a dedicated learning space earmarked for kids. A comfortable and feel-good space will keep the motivation and focus quotient high while also making sure that children can get creative and personalize the same in a fun and engaging manner as well.
Choose an area where the child will not have to bother about any possible distractions. Try and find a space which has plenty of natural light or an area with bright lighting. The corner of a room may be an option. Get seating which is robust with ample back support. Ensure that your desk has sufficient space for a tablet, laptop, notebooks and other stationery while ensuring that it is near a power outlet as well.
If it is a larger home, then experimentation may be possible with the interiors of the room of the child including the choice of furniture and wall colors as well.
Avoid any kind of loud volume (Tv, kitchen utensils) to avoid distractions

It is suitable that you maintain some discipline and decorum during the class hours of your little one. Loud volumes on the television are a strict no-no along with the clattering of a busy kitchen area and also sounds of utensils, pressure cookers and so on. This may be distracting and you should also ensure that children are not distracted by younger siblings, gadgets, pets and phones.
Keep study material organized at proper place

Start teaching children to keep all their learning material, supplies and other tools/accessories handy including stationery, earphones, notebooks and so on. Make sure that they learn to organize each day and keep things in their proper place within reach. This will reduce any chance of last-minute panic in the child. Adjust the video and sound before every class and be available nearby for any support or assistance.
Make sure kids learnt the proper camera etiquettes!

Your children should know camera etiquette. Teach them the basics to be followed while they are part of any online class. They should face the camera properly and avoid looking here and there while talking. They should wisely use the chat box and also type only what they need specifically. Teach children to mute the audio when any other person is talking out of respect.
They should always be polite with their queries and keep their voices from being overtly loud and clanging. Children should not unnecessarily move and sit here and there. They should learn to ask for permission before getting up to go to the washroom or for fetching something for the class. They should learn when and how to turn videos on and off. Teach them to raise their hands whenever they have any question.
So, these were some handy tips to groom your kids with the right etiquettes for extracurricular online learning? What are your thoughts? Please share with me!

I have taught my children the right etiquettes when they attend extracurricular activities online. Things like not speaking out of turn, respecting everyone, wearing appropriate clothes, etc. go a long way, especially fostering a culture where everyone gets to be heard properly while sharing their own perspective. Thanks for your insights.

A dedicated space and absence of distracting sounds are absolutely necessary. Kids have fickle concentration and we must create the right atmosphere for them. Camera etiquette applies to adults too!

Your tips are clearly on point. These are the same etiquette my daughter’s school implements on their virtual class. My daughters are attending virtual schooling so these list is pretty familiar. I’d like to add to remind the kids of the usual manners they do such as covering their mouth when they yawn. These simple things are usually forgotten especially with the thought of them just being in the screen but still annoyingly not a good sight on the other side of the screen.
