Personally I believe “Knowledge and correct information” is most powerful weapon to fight against any kind of problems, social issues or diseases.

Being a qualified homeopathic therapist, I always try to share information with people that are useful and help a lot in raising awareness against different kind of lifestyle or other diseases.

In fact, blogging and social media has amazing power to spread the word about any Nobel cause.

I had previously written Diabetes Awareness series  and Clean eating series on my blog that has helped a lot to others in understand these. I always feel great and accomplished as a blogger (and as a doctor), when I share something useful info with my readers, through my blog.

Today, I want to share some important information about one of the scariest life threatening disease condition that is AIDS.

What Is AIDS?
AIDS or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is one of the spectrum of conditions that caused by infection of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HIV is a virus that mainly affects the immune system and increase the risk of infection and diseases of other body systems.

Pathology of disease

HIV virus affect the body’s immune cells called Cd4 cells, which are the type of T cells. These are white cells the move around the body and causes anomalies and infections in cells. When HIV virus infected these T body cells, it increases the risk of infections of other body system. In fact, with this attack immune system become so weak and loss an ability to fight even with routine infections.

Symptoms of AIDS

AIDS is caused by HIV infection but it does not mean that anyone who has HIV positive results will have AIDS. Some people who detect early could live a normal life with antiviral treatment and some precautions despite being infected with HIV. But when the HIV infection severely affects the immune system, it results in life threatening condition called AIDS.

During initial stage, patient may not have any severe set of symptoms. And gradually may develop some symptoms like

  • Chronic fever
  • Night sweat
  • Swollen glands
  • Cough
  • Weight loss
  • Recurrent infections
  • The main problem with HIV infection is that the “infected person loses the ability to fight with any kind of infections. Weakness of immune system causes so many other serious systemic disorders that include:
  • Pneumonia
  • Tuberculosis
  • Meningitis and others too

How HIV Spread?

HIV virus is spread mainly through the transmission of body fluids that include

  • Semen
  • Vaginal fluid
  • Rectal fluid
  • Blood etc.

Did you know there are 2.01 million people still in India who live with HIV, or that there are about 80,000 people who get infected every year?
